Virginia Coastal Zone Management Program: Virginia CZM has begun the process of updating the
Virginia Marine Debris Reduction Plan (VMDRP) for the 2026-2030 cycle. This will be the third
iteration of the VMDRP. The VMDRP addresses four debris types including consumer debris (e.g.
single use plastics), microplastics, derelict fishing gear, and abandoned and derelict vessels.
Virginia CZM is currently working on updating actions to be included in the plan through a
stakeholder engagement process. If you are interested in learning more please reach out to william.isenberg@deq.virginia.gov.
